I am a former creative writing instructor and enjoy teaching writing to both children and adults. (My published books range in reading level from preschool to age 12.) I also enjoy speaking at young author conferences, as well as writers’ conferences for adults. Each engagement is geared to the age level of the audience. Below is a listing of some of the topics (but by no means all) on which I speak and/or teach:
| The three R’s of becoming a writer--Reading, Writing, and Revision | |
| CPR for stories--Character, Plot, and Revision (bringing a failing story to life) | |
|
|
Where do ideas come from? (Some of mine come from the dining room carpet.) |
| Writing a middle grade novel/chapter book/easy reader/picture book | |
| Character, plot and theme: key elements in children's fiction | |
| Demystifying the picture book |
